Amos Frumkin

is a professor emeritus at the Institute of Earth Sciences, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel. He is the speleologist who has founded and to this day directs the Israel Cave Research Center (ICRC) at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. His interests include karst and cave morphology, cave sediments as indicators of paleoclimate, paleohydrology, the development of karst aquifers, and geoarchaeology. The research is mostly associated with speleological features studied using earth-sciences methods, such as geomorphology, modern dating, and stable isotopes, associated with wider scopes of geology, geomorphology, prehistory, archaeology, and environmental studies. He has authored and edited ~200 refereed articles and ten books. His most recent (2024) co-edited books are Landscapes and Landforms of Israel (Springer), and Atlas of East Galilee Caves (Magnes). He has supervised over 25 graduated students.
