Boaz Zissu

is a Professor of Classical Archaeology at Bar-Ilan University’s Martin (Szusz) Department of Land of Israel Studies and Archaeology, where he heads the Jeselsohn Epigraphic Center for Jewish History. He earned his Ph.D. from the Hebrew University in 2002 and previously worked at the Israel Antiquities Authority (1987-2002). His research focuses on the archaeology and historical geography of ancient Jerusalem, Judaea, and Idumaea during the Hellenistic, Roman, and Byzantine periods. Prof. Zissu has authored seven books and over 300 articles. He currently leads major archaeological projects including the explorations of the Te’omim Cave in the Judaean Hills. He serves on the Israel Archaeological Council and has received grants from the Israel Science Foundation, DPV, and GIF for his research.
